The Round Da' Clock Cafe complete

This is the end of this project! I'm not working on it anymore! I'm tired of it! I should probably tell you more about it before my rant continues. For Environments and Characters studio class, We had to design an environment with the entire experience of a finished painting, a floor layout, and some concept sketches. I decided to do a coffee shop for mine and man did I get sick of it fast. I made the executive decision that I'm not going to photoshop everything in and that the line drawings really aren't that bad. Can anyone tell that I'm running low on caffeine? I can't wait for Thanksgiving break.

Quick photoshop sketches of the outside and lower level

On to the next brain-devouring project

You Can't Lift That Thing!

video

It's still a little glitchy, but I put way too many hours in on this thing not to post it. This was my first time animating in maya with a plug in script, which is what we used to get the character to lift the rock.

On the subject of 3D, my Environments and Characters professor showed us this rather impressive piece of work someone emailed him.

It's BACON!! ....and some concept sketches

Pretty scary, eh? Don't worry, I can't eat that much bacon.

Hourly interval records of what's going on in my liberal arts classes

I'm doing some more concept work on my Round Da' Clock cafe project. I've decided to go with the tea pot thumbnail and I wanted the place to have a real cute and cozy feel to it, and so I can use it in my Toy Chest Mystery game in the future.

Sound Design

A studio class I'm taking that doesn't seem to get a lot of public attention is my Sound Design class. I felt that my work from the class needed posting.

This most recent project is the audio track to a made-up movie trailer. My partner was Kevin Ingrassia and we would like to thank Ben Halsted for being our talented announcer.

Round da' Clock Cafe Thumbnails

I'll be starting my first environment project soon and the assignment is to design a restaurant with the "full experience". That means inside, outside, and everything it has to offer. Something about a kettle-themed coffee shop has been calling out to me so that's what I'm gonna do. My personally set parameters is that the building must be a kettle, it must have a clock somewhere on or near the the building, and it has to have at least one circular window.

Can't sleep. School will eat me.

WAKE UP!!

It's a miracle in itself that I am even awake enough right now to post these. I didn't get too much sleep the night before my History of Modern Design midterm exam and I could barely keep my head off the desk. I had already downed my entire thermos of iced coffee and I wasn't even feeling a little bit awake. But my sketchbook saved the day! Jotting down a few quick doodles before the test woke me up enough to focus on the exam. Hurray, sketching!

Hmmm....I seem to like sticking coffee shops and other random coffee paraphernalia it places they probably shouldn't be.

In other news, I'm pleased to finally announce that the Our Favorite Cabins banner ad project has finally come to a close. No where near the same as it's original glorious animated form, the ad has undergone several revisions and redos. I had no idea how to make a working banner ad link before this, but now I do! From this experience, I've learned to avoid taking on jobs that I have no idea how to do and to be patience in stressful business situations. The banner ad is running down at the very bottom of the blog. Thank you to all the clients who have been very patient with my little learning experience.

Melfina the Alchemic Showgirl

Assignment for Characters and Environments class. We had to use the character/story generators of seventh sanctum.com for a description to base a character off of. Mine was the Undead Alchemic Showgirl from another planet.
